Port of Toulon

About Toulon, Guide and Tourist Attractions
(Toulon, Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, France)

Toulon can be found in the south of France, between Marseille and Saint It is a naval port city with military roots predating WWII.

The city is a gateway to the surrounding countryside and what it lacks in architectural heritage is made up for with a strong nightlife, top-class accommodation and plenty of dining options.

What to do in Toulon

The city's nightlife is centred on the waterfront. A number of bars sporting many themes populate this area. The centre of the city is home to the majority of the dining establishments.

Some noteworthy sights and scenery can be found on the avenue running along the harbour.

The main draw of Toulon is its accessibility to other nearby regions with more notable attractions. The city's accommodation and nightlife make it a good place to retire after an eventful day trip.

Tourist Attractions

Some attractions within the city of Toulon include the Gare Routière, located northwest of the city centre on Place Albert-1er. On Place de l'Europe, the Gare SNCF is also worth investigating. The old town district still contains remnants of the port predating the town's bombing during WWII.

A drive down the coast offers many possibilities. The road to Hyeres reveals the lavish resorts of St Tropez and La Croix-Valmer. Also on this route are the ancient hilltop villages of La Garde Freinet and Collobrières. The coast around Cap de Bregançon is spectacular, and the Îles d'Hyères is also nearby. For a more laidback drive, the road to Marseille is worth considering as you pass the stunning resort town of Cassis.
